Research & Development

India is rapidly emerging as a global hub for research and innovation, ranking among the top five research-producing nations as of 2024. However, the country still faces critical gaps—particularly in research workforce density and high-impact outputs. Despite having a vast technical talent pool, India lags behind smaller nations like Chile and Kenya in per capita researchers. While research output rose significantly—by over 175% between 2003 and 2024—only a limited number of publications are highly cited. This highlights the urgent need for greater investment in high-quality, impactful research to boost global competitiveness and innovation outcomes. Strengthening research infrastructure and incentivizing excellence are crucial to transforming India's research landscape in the coming decade.

To transform India into a knowledge-driven economy, fostering a vibrant R&D ecosystem is essential. Bharat RITES recognizes this urgency and positions Research & Development as a foundational pillar. The Trust aims to promote a research culture rooted in innovation, real-world impact, and collaborative partnerships between academia, industry, and government.

Bharat RITES facilitates the creation of Research and Innovation Cells (RICs) within institutions, providing mentorship, funding access, and infrastructure support.
